Baptism
One of the most controversial subjects in the history of God's church has been the issue of baptism. Here at Calvary we see baptism as an outward expression of the inward change from being "born again" (Jesus' term) or becoming a "new creation" (Paul's term) by faith in Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection. This radical transformation in the new believer happens within the heart and is something that needs to be celebrated publicly with the hope that others will be moved to put their faith in Christ and the cycle will continue.
"Then Crispus...believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians hearing, believed and were baptized." (Acts 18:8 NKJV)
We baptize only those who have already trusted Jesus as their personal Savior from sin and we do it at a public service where we totally immerse in water to follow the example of Jesus and the early church.
